The finance model in Football Online is relatively simple; it is affected only by transfers, auctions, prize money, small cash rewards and building of club infrastructure (eg. a club's youth academy).
It is the manager's responsibility to keep their club's finances healthy. If a club does get into debt, the discrepancy must be removed by the following Thursday’s roster releases or an auction will take place with the best player being put up for sale. The minimum bid will have to be able to clear that club’s debt. If the player is not sold within that week, the value will be halved and the process will continue to the next best player and so on, until the debt is fully repaid.
TRANSFER SYSTEM
Player transfers in Football Online can come in many forms: cash deals, player trades, a combination of players and cash, loan deals, scout missions, signing free agents and player releases.
Cash deals, player trades and player/cash trades are self-explanatory.
Whenever a deal is reached, a scout mission is requested or a player is about to be released, either parties involved in the deal (or just one party if it’s a free transfer or scout) must inform the administrator of their wishes. Deals may be confirmed but will not be processed to rosters until the next transfer updates. Remember that once a confirmation is sent by both managers, the deal cannot be reversed so both parties need to make sure they are happy with the deal before sending a joint confirmation.
Transfers will be permitted as long as the transfer window is open. The transfer window at each season will close on the Thursday leading up to Round 14 of the league season.
Loans
Clubs may agree to a deal involving a temporary transfer, known as a loan. Loans can run any time from two weeks to an entire season but must be specified when a confirmation e-mail is sent to the administrator. Both parties may also mutually terminate a loan deal but it must serve a minimum of two weeks before this can happen.
Scout Missions
Players may request the administrator via e-mail for scout missions during the course of a season. There are two types – senior and youth scouting missions. Each club is allowed a maximum of two senior scouts per season and three youth scouts. Each scouting mission costs € 1,000,000, plus an additional price for the player using the following formula:
Value = (Primary * 400 000) + (Secondaries * 200 000) + (Primary ab’s * 4000) + (Secondary ab’s * 2000)
The scouting fee is doubled if a manager requests a specific position (GK, DF, DM, MF, AM or FW).
A club may decide to pass on a particular scout, in which case the player will be offered at 75% of the original value. The scouting club cannot bid on this player.
Player Releases
A player may be surplus to a manager’s requirements during the course of a season; the player can be given a release from his contract. The compensation fee from the club is € 10,000 for each primary stat. There will be a period in the off-season where release fees are waived and these end-of-season released players will be put into a draft.
Free agents
Players on the free agent list will be littered with players looking to find a new club. Some may be in there at the start of the game; others may have been released from an FO club already. The standard sign-on fee for a senior player is as follows:
Sign-on fee = (Primary skill level) * 5 000 + (All other combined skills) * 2 500
Youth players can be signed for double the formulated sign-on fee. Players aged over 30 can be signed for half of the formulated sign-on fee.
Deals involving youth players
Any youth player may be traded as long as they are given a proper name. For example, keeping Defender01’s name the same could potentially mean a clash in the game engine with the buyer’s Defender01. Therefore, proper names are required for deals to occur. Managers may choose to pick the names themselves (not compulsory though) as long as they are sensible. Otherwise, the administrator will pick the names and will be based on real-life youth players.
Player Season Auction
There may be player auctions during the course of the season to give managers a further opportunity to spend their hard-earned cash. When an auction is due to take place, the administrator will post the players on offer and when the auction is to open and close. Blind bids to the administrator will be the only way to send bids, with a maximum of two bids allowed per club.
Club Cash Rewards
Club managers can be rewarded for participating in the FO community. One way to do this is to submit articles based on your team’s happenings in the game (eg. transfers, matches). € 250,000 will be rewarded for each article, up to a maximum of two article rewards per week. Articles must be at least 100 words long and avoid using textspeak and insulting language. A manager may write more than two articles per week but will not receive more than the maximum cash reward per week.

For each position above the expected position, the club’s sponsorship reward will increase by € 1,000,000. Conversely, a club will lose € 1,000,000 for every position finished below their expectations (so basically, a club only has to finish four positions below their expectations to get no sponsorship at all, while lower clubs can aim much higher for sponsorship rewards).
YOUTH ACADEMIES
Clubs will be able to upgrade their youth academy by improving the training and scouting levels. More details are available on the Youth Players thread.
